We measured ultraviolet photoelectron spectra, Penning ionization electron spectra, and collision energy dependence of partial ionization cross sections of acrolein (propenal) which is one of the conjugated carbonyl compounds. These results show that the interaction between an acrolein molecule and He* is attractive around the oxygen lone pair. In the ultraviolet photoelectron spectrum, a weak band was observed, which could be assigned to an electron shake-up process.
